September 1, 2022 – Ps 70, Pr 30, Ecc 7

For as churning cream produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife.”
Proverbs 30:33 NIV

Went to sleep last night angry and woke this morning still angry. I want to stay angry and stir up anger but this is reminding me that I should not seek strife but peace.

It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of everyone; the living should take this to heart.
Ecclesiastes 7:2 NIV

I never looked at this like I did today. A house of mourning is a place of equality. Everyone dies so no matter what you have in life to celebrate or show off is of equal use to you as someone who has more or less. A house of feasting is about celebrating the things in life you have which can cause division and bad feelings for people who have less and pride in those who have more. In taking this to heart we should live as equals with everyone. Those who have more and those who have less because in the end it is all meaningless.

Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.
Ecclesiastes 7:9 NIV

Here again I hear rebuke about by hard heart that wants to hold onto anger. God knows I don’t want to be a fool so this stops me in my mental rant. I am now feeling grace and peace. Thank you Lord.
