September 4, 2022 – Ps 73, Pr 2, Ecc 10

Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.
Psalms 73:23‭-‬24 NIV

Maybe this is why I look forward to leaving this world and meeting Jesus face to face.

Through laziness, the rafters sag; because of idle hands, the house leaks.
Ecclesiastes 10:18 NIV

I live in the reality of this statement. There has been a leak in our roof for about 20 years. It does not always leak but it is clearly getting worse. Last heavy rain there was a wet spot on the carpet that was soaking wet because the leak was at its worst. I had asked my husband if now I can call someone to come and look at it and again, he said no. He needs to get up into the crawl space and see what is going on so he can see where it is leaking from. This is what he has been intending to do for 20 years. Would this qualify as idle hands? I do understand how easy it is to forget to do something like this since it does not usually leak. If it were something that happened all the time I would remember and be able to encourage him to take action. Maybe this scripture is to remind me to remind him instead of criticizing him. Again, at a time when I am extremely irritated with my husband on similar matters God uses His word to remind me that He brought us together for a reason and I should not look to put him down but should be his helper. I am still struggling with the frustration and anger but have just rebuked Satan and his lies and asked Jesus to change my heart and guide my thoughts and actions and I trust that He will.
